Our ENT Doctors are available to evaluate and treat patients for disorders including but not limited to nasal obstruction, sinusitis, Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, sleep apnea, hoarseness, cough, laryngeal disorders, tonsillitis, enlarged tonsils, facial pain, headaches, oral lesions and pain, neck masses or enlarged glands, salivary gland disorders and tumors, skull base and pituitary tumors, hearing loss or deafness, dizziness, ear infections, earwax obstructions, ear pain and ear fluid. We also work closely with several sleep disorders centers in the area and perform different types of procedures to reduce or eliminate snoring.   • David M. Vernick

    MD, FACS

    David M. Vernick, MD is a graduate of Johns Hopkins Medical School. He completed his postgraduate surgical training at George Washington Hospital in Washington, D.C. In 1979 Dr. Vernick continued his training as a resident in Otolaryngology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Subsequently, he became a fellow in Otology, Neurotology skull base surgery at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Upon completion, he returned to the Boston area and has worked as a surgeon in Otolaryngology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Children's Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital. Dr. Vernick, along with Dr. Gopal, established the practice of Vernick and Gopal to provide state of the art care to patients with ear, nose and throat problems. Dr. Vernick is board certified in Otolaryngology and has received subspecialty certification in Neurotology by the American Board of Otolaryngology. While skilled in all aspects of Otolaryngology, Dr. Vernick has developed expert skills in the treatment of ear problems (otology). Dr. Vernick was the first surgeon in New England to use lasers in middle ear surgery and was also the first to implant bone anchored hearing aids in New England. He is skilled in the use of lasers for treatment of Otosclerosis and Osteogenesis Imperfecta hearing loss. Dr. Vernick has strong interests in balance disorders, including Meniere's disease, benign positional vertigo and labyrinthitis. His research and focus has been on otologic surgery and the use of lasers and the diagnosis and treatment of hearing and balance disorders. His surgical expertise includes all otologic procedures including posterior and middle fossa skull base lesions, acoustic neuroma resection, cochlear implantation, vestibular nerve resection, and glomus tumor removal. Dr. Vernick is dedicated to thoroughly evaluating, diagnosing and developing appropriate treatment plans for his patients. Dr. Vernick continues to participate in research, conferences and training. He teaches numerous courses through local, national and international conferences that have focused on temporal bone surgical techniques and the diagnosis and care of otologic disease. He has published numerous scholarly articles, published chapters and reviews and written books and monographs on hearing, hearing loss, temporal bone malignancy, and otosclerosis. He is currently an assistant clinical professor of Otology and Laryngology at Harvard Medical School.

  • Harsha Gopal

    MD, FACS

    Harsha Gopal, MD received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Gopal did his postgraduate surgical training at Western Pennsylvania Hospital of Pittsburgh and SUNY Stony Brook. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology at Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Gopal is a board certified Otolaryngologist (ears, nose and throat physician) and licensed to practice in Massachusetts. Dr. Gopal has practiced in all areas of otolaryngology. More recently, Dr. Gopal has focused much of his research on the management of rhinitis and sinusitis. He was integrally involved in the evaluation and development of a new image guidance system for sinus surgery. Along with his colleagues, he has been involved in the development and implementation of several patient care protocols. His areas of interest include sinus and nasal disorders, head and neck surgery, snoring and sleep apnea and voice disorders. Dr. Gopal is deeply committed to providing the optimal patient evaluation and treatment. Dr. Gopal brings over fifteen years experience as an Otolaryngologist to the practice. He has made a commitment to teaching and currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Otology and Laryngology at Harvard Medical School. He has published several chapters and original articles in scholarly medical journals including landmark articles in image guidance for sinus surgery

  • Ashlie Darr

    MD

    Dr. Darr received her college degree as a Woodruff Scholar from Emory University and obtained her medical doctorate from New York Medical College. There, she served as Iota Chapter president of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She completed her surgical internship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and her residency training in otolaryngology at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary. Dr. Darr thereafter completed a clinical fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary in thyroid and parathyroid surgery. Dr. Darr has performed research in thyroid cancer, thyroid surgery and laryngeal nerve monitoring and has published several scholarly research papers and chapters in medical texts. She is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Otology and Laryngology at Harvard Medical School and is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.

  • Ann Gentili-Stockwell

    M.A., CCC-A

    Ann Gentili-Stockwell, M.A., CCC-A, completed her Master's training Audiology with high honors at UCONN and has worked as an audiologist in the Boston area for more than 20 years. Ann is the former Director of Audiology for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Joint Center for Otolaryngology. These experiences have enabled Ann to equip Vernick & Gopal, LLC with the clinical staff and technology best suited for state of the art diagnosis and management of hearing and balance disorders. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, Ann also provides clinical care including adult and pediatric hearing assessment; Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR); videonystagmography (VNG) and treatment for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). She is expertly trained in the selection and fitting of all hearing aid technologies including the newest 'Open Fit' hearing aid devices, Ann is licensed to practice Audiology in Massachusetts. She is a certified member of the American Speech-Hearing Association and recipient of the ACE award for continuing education, She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Audiology.

  • Racheal Rush

    AuD., CCC-A

    Racheal Rush, AuD., CCC-A, received her doctorate of Audiology from AT Still Arizona School of Health Sciences in 2010. She obtained her master's training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Racheal provides comprehensive hearing assessments for adults and children. She is trained in the selection and fitting of all hearing aids. Racheal is highly trained in advanced diagnostics, including Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR), Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMP), and Videonystagmography (VNG). She is also skilled in the various treatments of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). Racheal is licensed to practice Audiology in Massachusetts, is a certified member of the American Speech-Hearing Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Originally from Arkansas, she married a Massachusetts native and has learned to love the Red Sox.
